What Were The Fenway Park Coke Bottles?

The coke bottles were fiberglass replicas installed on top of the Green Monster in 1997 and removed in 2008. They were more than just advertisements—they served as an iconic target for home run hitters and made for truly memorable moments. It was not uncommon to see a ball hit off of one of the bottles or soar over them into the crowd beyond.

The presence of the coke bottles was an iconic sight in Fenway Park and a true spectacle, and they remain fondly remembered by all who experienced them first-hand.

Missed Opportunities In Left Field

Whenever a ball hit off the Coke bottles on top of the Green Monster, Coca-Cola would donate to the Jimmy Fund. Bringing Back The Bottles

It has been 14 years since those iconic bottles graced Fenway Park, and it’s time for them to come back. We know that fans would love seeing them there again—not just as an iconic piece of nostalgia but also because it would add another layer of excitement to watching Red Sox games.

What’s The CITCO Sign At Fenway Park?

The CITGO sign has become a beacon at Fenway Park, lighting up the night sky since 1940. Located atop the above-grade parking garage located across the street from Fenway Park, the sign was originally used to promote gasoline and oil crafted by the Venezuelan-based energy giant.

Today, it is an iconic part of Red Sox fandom, lighting up after each home team victory and during each World Series celebration. Since its installation in 1940, CITGO has maintained it, keeping those same original neon bulbs shining for decades.

The modern sign was installed in 2013 and utilizes more efficient LED technology. It remains true to its predecessor’s design and color scheme, still lit red and blue whenever capturing Red Sox euphoria.

What Makes Fenway So Iconic?

Fenway Park is an iconic baseball stadium located in Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1912, it is the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball and has been home to the Boston Red Sox since it opened. Fenway has a capacity of just over 37,000 and is known for its unique dimensions, including the Green Monster—a 37-foot high wall in left field.

The most recent renovations began in 2002 and continued through 2003 as part of an effort to preserve Fenway Park while adding modern amenities. Things such as luxury suites, expanded concourses, concession stands, team stores, and better player training facilities.

These changes gave fans improved sightlines and easier access to games taking place at Fenway Park while maintaining the classic atmosphere that had made it so popular over the years.
